The DCR Park Fellows Program, coordinated and presented with the UMass Donahue Institute, provides an opportunity for a select group of up to 10 qualified and motivated college students to explore conservation and recreation careers through a summer of hands-on work and learning in the Massachusetts state parks. Applicants can select their two top choices of regions for placement.

This 12-week paid fellowship program runs from June 2 to August 22, 2008 where, in addition to routine work details, site visits will be arranged to other areas in the DCR region, a special project will be required of all Park Fellows, and a program-wide workshop will bring all the Fellows together for shared learning and project planning.

The application process is competitive and applicants must be recommended by a faculty person or administrator at the college or university they presently attend, or by a past employer. Both the application form and recommendation form, available in .pdf and Word format, are due by April 18, 2008 and notification of acceptance will be no later than May 2, 2008. Early applications will be considered for rolling acceptance.

Participants who meet all program requirements will receive a certificate at the completion of the program as well as Continuing Education Units if interested.
